The Lyke Wake Walk has its origins in a 1955 article published by Dalesman magazine, and is named after a traditional song that tells of the soul's travel, and the hazards it faces, on its way from earth to purgatory. But there is no direct connection; the walk doesn't actually follow a corpse road.
